FULL-BACK Nathan Waite's brace of tries maintained Swindon's position at the summit of the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier Division after a 26-0 win at Slough's Farnham Royal.

Waite scored in each half as the visitors kept second-placed Chipping Norton who they play at Greenbridge Road next week two points behind in the chase for the title.

Swindon enjoyed a bright opening period, but found themselves frustrated by Farnham's decent kicking game, aided by a strong breeze.

Deep into the half, Farnham pulled down a close-range scrum on their own line, but the referee blew too late to prevent hooker Scott Chapman sustaining an injury, which ruled him out for the rest of the game.

Swindon re-set the scrum and Farnham employed the same tactics, resulting in a penalty try which fly-half Neil Maycock converted.

Swindon pressed to extend their lead just before half time and succeeded.

Their superior class told as centre Guy Sturla stormed through the defence and found Waite who went in under the posts, Maycock again adding the extras.

Maycock played a key role in the second period, as the Swindon pack gave him the platform from which to control matters.

But it was Sturla who created the next score, again surging through the line before being stopped and off-loading to fellow cenre and skipper Paul Wakefield, who touched down.

Maycock again converted and Waite rounded off the victory, straightening the line and using his pace and strength to get over the line.
