SWINDON based building society Nationwide has called for a code of conduct to be applied to cash machines.
Owners of some of the UK's 21,000 charging cash machines will face the Treasury Select Committee tomorrow at an inquiry into their behaviour.
And Nationwide has called on the industry to implement a code of practice as soon as possible.
Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director, said: "We hope a code of practice can be devised which will make it easier for consumers to differentiate between charging and free machines and which will ensure consumers are treated fairly."
