It is possible 24,000 more houses may be built in Swindon in the years to 2026.

This is called "accelerated growth."

But does it make real sense? In the last 13 years, there has been much less housebuilding in Swindon than expected.

There are already 11,000 houses waiting to be built and some further 7,000 homes are still being planned for.

There are leaflets and responses forms at the libraries and the planning offices for the current consultation which lasts until February 18.

There is a map which shows yellow stars and arrows going out into the countryside to take all this extra growth. Is a flourishing town centre, with a university, the way to future prosperity?

Should the yellow stars be deleted and the arrows reversed to make the direction of growth to the town centre, with the strongest protection for green spaces in the urban area?

This is your chance to make your views felt.
