The race for the Swindon Indoor Cricket League First Division title has been thrown open with Wootton Bassett's defeat of leaders Swindon I by six runs.
Bassett were all out for 98 (Ian Lancaster 30), but tight bowling and keen fielding enabled them to dismiss Swindon for 92.
Civil Service maintained their challenge with a 16-run victory over Shrivenham. Alan Stewart top scored with 31 as Civil Service rattled up 141-5, and although Mark Whale replied with a typically belligerent 61, Shrivenham were always fighting a losing battle.
In Division 2 improving Winterbourne Bassett defeated Nalgo II by three wickets, thanks largely to Luke Leech' s undefeated 40.
Highworth's miserable season continued in Division 3 with a three-wicket loss to Ramsbury. Vijay hammered 67 in Highworth's 121 all out but Gary Comley's 30 proved decisive.
A plethora of fixtures in Division 4 saw South West retain their top spot with a 25-run win over stuggling Motorola.
Faringdon hammered Woodlands by 78 runs and suffering a similar fate themselves at the hands of vastly-improved Ramsbury II, going down by six runs.
