I WAS outraged to hear that the Mayor of Swindon did not receive a parking ticket from the attendant on duty on January 27.
The parking rules are clearly laid down in the Highway Code and those rules apply to me, you and the Mayor of Swindon.
While I appreciate the gravity of the day in question, had I have parked my car in the same place on the same day, would the parking attendant have chased after me to ask me to move the vehicle or would I have received a £40 fine?
I suspect the latter.
The mayor should be advised that the town has an excellent park and ride service and several car parks where he could have paid in excess of £6 a day to park his car, which is excellent value, according to Tony Foss in parking.
The council should pull its finger out and give the mayor the fine he so rightly deserves.
