GAZETTE & HERALD: Pupils at St Patrick's RC School, in Corsham, had a tasty treat this week when the Waitrose cooking bus rolled up for a visit.
The bus boasts a full size cooking classroom, complete with four workstations, two microwaves and five double ovens and hobs, and it arrived on Tuesday for a three day visit.
It allowed up to 16 children at a time to prepare two or three dishes, including fruit kebabs and bruschetta, as part of a focus on healthy eating.
The mobile kitchen is designed to give youngsters the experience of preparing meals together and to promote healthy eating.
Teacher Mary Earing, who organised the visit, first applied for the cooking bus three years ago but because of its popularity there was a huge waiting list.
Headteacher Kieran Lofsuf said: "It was well worth the wait, the teaching is very high quality. The children were really enthusiastic and it's very exciting for them to see their car park transformed and taken over by this huge HGV.
"They got to test their food at the end of the session and they really enjoyed it."
The cooking bus travels to schools all around the country from its base in Halifax, West Yorkshire, supporting food education.
