Corston resident Joanna Watchman says parish councillors should stop wasting time complaining about the British Telecom phonebook when speeding is the real problem in the village.
St Paul Malmesbury Without Parish Council has written a letter of complaint to BT criticising the decision to include Malmesbury in its Swindon and North Wiltshire phone book for 2004-2005. The councillors would rather Malmesbury and Chippenham were included together.
But Ms Watchman says the councillors should be focusing their priorities on the problem of speeding in Corston.
Ms Watchman said: "It is a good job we do not pay for parish councillors. I think they are snobs and do not want to be associated with Swindon. My issue here is that they should be focussed 100 per cent on the speeding problem instead of this sort of rubbish."
Bernard Ingham, St Paul Malmesbury Without parish council chairman, said: "As a parish council we have put a great deal of effort into the speeding issue."
