15258/2Creative children from Malmesbury Primary School have created a large outdoor canvas in the style of artist Laurence Stephen Lowry.
A group of pupils aged between nine and 11 spent three weeks on the project, which is on display in the school playground.
Led by art teacher Kerry Bacon, they first studied the life and work of the famous Manchester artist, before drawing, painting and sketching in his style. Headteacher Jeff Staton says working together on the project has given the pupils a sense of accomplishment.
He said: "The objective of the creative project was for them to see something they had completed which was original and of value.
"By being creative, the children build up their learning power and every Wednesday afternoon they spend time on a project."
