15295/01EFFORTS by staff and governors to make Oare School a vibrant place in which to learn have paid off with a glowing report by OFSTED inspectors.

Three inspectors spent three days at the 60 pupil village school in September and their findings were all complimentary.

The overall summary of their visit stated: "Oare Primary School is an effective school. Pupils achieve well to reach overall standards that are above those expected by the end of years two and six.

"Teaching is good and has many very good aspects.

"The school is effectively led and well managed so that strengths are maintained and areas for development are successfully tackled.

"Governance of the school is good. Finances are wisely used to ensure that pupils' needs are met."

Head teacher Brian Bourne had a clear vision of what he wanted the school to be like, the inspectors found, and he was ably backed by deputy head Marion Jones in "giving a very clear steer" for the school, the report said.

Staff and governors work closely together, the inspectors found, and demonstrated a great commitment to ensuring pupils doing as well as they could.

"Pupils are enthusiastic, confident, polite and respectful and have very positive attitudes to their work," the report said.

The only criticism was that parents were not given enough information about the work their children did.
