A STRING of bizarre refereeing decisions condemned Devizes to their sixth straight defeat according to manager Mark Godley.

The visitors conceded when Godley thought his side should have been awarded a free kick for a foul on Dave Lloyd.

"The boss was left fuming when the man in black refused to give them a penalty for what he considered a blatant handball.

Godley said after the game: "I try hard not to criticise officials but that was the worst referees performance I have seen.

"It cost us a point and maybe even three."

The visitors dominated the game and had 12 shots on goal with six on target.

The home side can count themselves lucky to take the three points as they only had three attempts all game with their goal the only one of them on target.

The decisive strike came in the 35th minute when Lloyd was in possession of the ball.

He was taken down and the referee waved play on, allowing the midfielder to put a forward through on goal and he clipped the ball past visiting goalkeeper Andy King.

In the second half Devizes came out fighting and should have had a penalty when a defender raised his arm and blocked a shot that was heading goal bound with the keeper stranded. The Devizes players were left wondering how the official did not award them a spot kick.

With ten minutes remaining ex-Corsham striker Dave Kilmurray was through on goal with just the keeper to beat but he was hacked down by a defender just outside the box.

The guests had a free kick but the referee failed to send off the last defender.
