THE new look visitors guide for Kennet features a crop circle on the cover. The guide is produced by Kennet District Council and tourism development manager Kairen Kellard said featuring a crop circle on the front was good marketing.
The picture, by Steve Alexander, features a six pointed star and hexagon formation spotted close to Wilton Windmill, near Marlborough, last August.
Ms Kellard said: "When we saw the photograph we thought 'wow, this reflects the windmill and shows the wide skies and fantastic landscape'."
She went on: "Crop circles are a big attraction. A few years ago when we had one on the front cover of our guide and we sent them to an exhibition in Holland, out of all the Wiltshire brochures, ours were the first to go, such was the interest. It's the mysticism connected to crop circles that attracts people's interest. They are a unique selling point."
The 25-page guide is partly paid for by advertising and costs the council around £4,000 to produce 15,000 copies.
