A dislocated elbow for influential No 8 Mark Holdsworth proved to be the turning point for Minety in their 21-6 defeat to Berkshire side Redingensians in Southern Counties South.
Following Holdsworth's withdrawal 10 minutes before the end, Redingensians scored two late converted tries to secure the points.
Trailing by a converted try at the break, Minety bounced back with the slope in their favour.
Peter Roberts hit a penalty to add to one in the first half to make it 6-7.
Holdsworth was leading the charge for Minety when he received his injury and when play restarted Minety lost their momentum.
Minety 2nd lost 43-7 to Swindon 3rd, their consolation try from flanker Dave Peirce, converted by Andy Edwards.
