15215/1THE headteacher at Holy Trinity Primary School in Great Cheverell, near Devizes, has been praised for getting the school back on an even keel.
A report from the school inspection service Ofsted praised headteacher John Bridges and his staff for improving the school.
The report describes Holy Trinity as a good school where attitudes to learning are nurtured within a strong Christian community and highly supportive family atmosphere.
The school experienced some difficulty when the former deputy head went on maternity leave and eventually decided not to go back to teaching. Much of the burden in her absence fell on Mr Bridges.
The report says that all issues identified in a previous report had been addressed. In 2002, the school was average for its English results, but well below average for maths and science. By 2003, results in English were A* and both maths and science were well above average.
Chairman of governors John Spear said that future targets include increasing pupils' access to ICT and analysing children's achievements electronically.
