15290/1A VILLAGE church that has served its community for over 1,000 years is in desperate need of renovation and £15,000 needs to be found urgently.
The congregation of St Peter's Church in Little Cheverell, near Devizes, only recently spent £11,600 replacing windows and electrical wiring as a joint Jubilee and Millennium project but parishioners were shocked to hear that more money needed to be found to replace the stone tiles on the chancel roof of the Saxon church. Being a listed building, replacement tiles contemporary with the originals will need to be found.
Lady Ruth Hawley, a former High Sheriff of Wiltshire, has taken on the job of co-ordinating the appeal. To help please contact her at Cheverell Place, Little Cheverell, Devizes SN10 4JJ, making cheques out to Little Cheverell PCC.
