15292/1BUDDING thespian Holly Carlile has dispensed with her crutches after recovering from a broken leg to take the lead role of Sleeping Beauty for the Seend village pantomime.

Holly, 15 of Seend, broke her left leg playing rugby for Melksham CATs under 17s on December 12.

Her leg was in a plaster cast for over a month but on Sunday she returned to rehearsals with the Seend Fawlty Players minus her crutches.

Even when her leg was in a cast Holly carried on going to rehearsals and neighbour Jackie Merivale pitched in to act the scenes while Holly read the lines off stage.

Holly, a former pupil of Seend Primary School and who goes to The George Ward School in Melksham, said: "People were worried I might not be able to act the part but it's a big part and I was quite determined to do it.

"I would have done it in crutches if I'd had to because this is a big opportunity for me.

"The only good thing about breaking my leg was that it gave me more time to learn my lines!

"I am very grateful to Jackie for being my stand in."
