AMATEUR archaeologists can discover the secrets of professional counterparts at a talk next week.
Dr Neil Linford from English Heritage show how archaeologists have learned to see through the ground using geophysic techniques, a system made famous by Channel 4's Time Team programme.
Techniques such as magnetic survey and ground penetrating radar provide a picture of what may lie beneath the earth and help to locate the best areas for excavation, like those at Groundwell Ridge in North Swindon last year.
Dr Linford's talk: 'Indiana Jones and the Dipole of Doom' will be held at the Haydon Centre, Thames Avenue, Haydon Wick at 7.30 pm on Monday February 7.
Admission is free. The talk is organised by The Friends of Groundwell Ridge.
