GAZETTE & HERALD: Offenders smashed their way into the Mill House Inn, on Methuen Park Road, Chippenham, on Sunday night, stealing the cash in the fruit machines.
Between midnight and 6.40am the thieves smashed a pane of glass in the side door to gain entry.
They got away with almost £500 and caused £50 damage to the door and between £50 and £100 to the machines.
Assistant manager at the pub, Natalie Zemlak said: "Not only did they smash up the fruit machines but they tipped over all the tables and chairs in the bar, which is strange more than anything. Why did they have to do that?
"It's such a shame. It's just a good job no one was here at the time. We hope people can come forward with any evidence and they are caught."
PC Dave Hunt at Chippenham police said enquiries are ongoing as the thieves left some evidence at the scene, but he would like anyone who saw anything suspicious, such as a vehicle or people hanging around outside to contact him on (01249) 654455 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
