A JOBS hotline for Melksham could be installed in the library, following the closure of the town's JobCentre in December.
The Church Street JobCentre was axed as part of a radical modernisation process and the launch of JobCentre Plus, leaving jobseekers to travel to centres in Trowbridge or Chippenham.
Plans are being discussed to install a phone in Melksham library enabling the town's jobseekers to reach help more easily.
Debbie Snook, project development manager for JobCentre Plus, told a Melksham Town Council meeting on Monday that discussions were being held with a view to installing the phone.
She said: "The library is really very keen for us to put the service in there."
The library already offers free internet access, which can be used to visit the JobCentre Plus website.
