TSUNAMI AID: CHILDREN and staff at a Melksham primary school used imaginative methods to raise more than £1,400 for the tsunami appeal.
Each class at Lowbourne Junior School thought up a different way to raise sponsorship last week.
Some classes spent the day wearing pyjamas, others had a sponsored spell and some dressed up as famous people.
Teaching assistant Pauline Smith said: "Each class was asked what they would like to do for it. They all had a class council meeting to decided what they were going to do."
Her class decided to dress up in pyjamas and Mrs Smith joined in.
"It did look very funny, especially with me in my dressing gown and slippers. It was a good job it was a dry day," she said.
She said the children had been keen to do something for the devastated region when they returned to school after the Christmas holiday.
She said: "It came from the children. The teachers really had no input. It really made the children think how well off they are."
The sponsorship money is still coming in and currently stands at £1,456.
Mrs Smith said: "For a little school with just 250 children it's pretty amazing."
