A MOVE towards round-the-clock drinking in north Wiltshire have been attacked by MP James Gray. Speaking in the House of Commons this week, Mr Gray said he feared the Government's new laws on 24-hour drinking will lead to more violence and bad behaviour.
He said: "I am concerned that 24-hour opening of pubs and clubs will lead to a huge increase in violent and disruptive behaviour in our towns and cities.
"This in turn will have massive implications for the emergency services, whose resources are already stretched to breaking point."
North Wiltshire District Council could begin receiving applications from pubs, clubs and off-licences for the new alcohol permits from next week.
