DIVISION Three leaders St Andrews lost pole position for the first time this season after two referees arrived to take control of their crunch top of the table battle at Lavington.
Trowbridge-based Richard Hatt was originally assigned to the Northbrook showdown but Mark Vincent from Chippenham finally took command as Lavington's 17-year-old hot-shot Myles Hickton notched goals 30 and 31 of the season in the hosts' 3-0 success. Scott Clark scored the third.
Apetito missed out at FC Chippenham who collected a second successive point in a 1-1 draw. Tom Keogh celebrated his debut to put Chippenham ahead at the break only for Nigel Penelhum to level soon after the restart.
Bradford Town Reserves also gained a morale-boosting result, with first team scoring ace Tom Pang banging in a hat-trick on his return from suspension in the 9-0 rout of Castle Combe A. Jason Harford (3), Danny Hurkett, Ben Ludwell and Charlie Heydon completing the scoring.
Two defensive lapses, after Keith Brown had twice reduced a three-goal interval deficit, cost neighbours United Reserves a fifth defeat in six games as Rowde Sports won 4-2 with goals from Tim Knight, Royston Aust (2) and Adie Bridge's 11th strike of the campaign.
Both Semington Magpies and Trowbridge Wanderers with games in hand, kept their promotion chances alive with 4-1 and 6-1 victories over Hilperton Reserves and The Stiffs respectively. Nathan Walker's goal for Magpie was wiped out by Ian Baker, but a 40-yard chip by Richard Allum, a Jason Brook's own goal and Simon Hillman's penalty proved too much for Hilperton.
Doubles from Dean Gumm and Steve Coombes and singles by Nigel Watson and Dominic Gorton gave Wanderers the verdict, with Pete Stephenson scoring for Stiffs.
Tomorrow's fixtures is dominated by the first of two titanic league clashes between Broughton Gifford and North Bradley Saints who also meet in the A and B Cup semi-final after the league giants demolished Division Two FC Northbridge and Steeple Ashton in the third round.
Northbridge, conquerers of holders Rudloe in the previous round, were hammered 11-1, with Chris Stiles, Darren Whiting and John Hubbard scoring hat-tricks and Neil Wilcox and Tom Staddon adding singles. Substitute Steve Jackson scored for Northbridge.
It was double figures as well for Saints in a 10-0 thrashing over Ashton who conceded trebles to Chris Fardell, Steve Munday and Brent Murden, with Ben Gardner adding a single.
Seend United and Bradford United will battle out a third round tie at The Lye tomorrow following Seend's 3-1 second round win over Dynamo West End. Barry Holloway, Kevin Warrilow and John Steel secured Seend's passage, with Mark Sykes replying.
CS Filos were on the receiving end of a surprise when lowly Castle Combe Reserves held them to a 2-2 first leg draw in the Division Two cup semi-final.
A last gasp equaliser from Marcus Young following Adam O'Keefe's 85th minute strike gives Combe a chance of a second successive final appearance after Filos had gone two up through Jason Wilcox.
A third win of the season over Frome Town Sports A clinched Rudloe Reserves a first round Spring Cup trip to Bradford United Reserves tomorrow thanks to a hat-trick from Luke Wolfe and singles from Liam Fullam and Sam Way in a 5-1 win. Tom Clayton replied.
Freshford's fifth point from three games in the top flight saw brothers Jared and Caleb Smith score in a 2-0 victory over Trowbridge United.
Heytesbury went down, this time 3-1 at Frome Town Sports, where Steve Wyatt's last-minute goal replied to home strikes from Frank Alexander, Paul Bendell and Luke Stanley.
John Baker and Jack Holdway secured a 2-0 win for Bradford United at Warminster Town Reserves.
In Division Two Stuart Barber's 16th goal of the season for Westbury United A sank leaders The Deverills while Ben McKee's quick reply to Wayne Bristow's equalising header, following Dave Jones' 35th minute opener for Bratton, continued Blue Circle's poor run.
Two penalties from Paul Farion and a bizarre own goal gave The Lamb Inn a 3-2 win over Hilperton United.
Seend United Reserves scored all seven goals in a 6-1 win at Broughton Gifford Reserves. Nigel Hall, Lee Jackson, Chris Bishop and Vinny Anderson (3) scored for Seend, with a Rik Noonan won goal in reply.
