16519POLICE are warning pedestrians that walking along roads without reflective clothing could be dangerous.
The move comes after a man was struck by an articulated lorry in Bradford on Avon on Monday morning.
The road was closed for more than an hour after the incident near the Woolley Grange Hotel. The 40-year-old man from Rowde, near Devizes, suffered a fractured ankle and bruising after being hit by the Volvo lorry, and was later taken to the RUH in Bath. Police said the man admitted he was at fault in walking on the road, which has no pavement, wearing dark clothing.
A police spokesman said: "Advice to pedestrians is always wear something light and if possible a reflective jacket or strips.
"This incident is a prime example of how dangerous it can be walking on the road, and we would urge everyone to take sensible precautions to ensure their safety."
