YOUNG people at the three Trowbridge secondary schools are banding together to help cancer sufferers.
Trowbridge Town Youth Council has launched a project to collect copper coins from pupils at St Augustine's Catholic College, the Clarendon College and the John of Gaunt School for Cancer Research UK.
The Youth Council was relaunched in September and this is just one of the projects it is undertaking.
Members are also organising a transport survey to find out how youngsters get to school.
The aim of the council, led by sixth form students from all three schools, is to promote the activities and concerns of young people and act as their representatives.
A spokesman said: "Being a member of the youth council is a valuable experience as it allows us to have an influence on the decisions which affect the youth of Trowbridge.
"It also gives you a sense of satisfaction, knowing that you have contributed and even established something for the rest of the young people here."
