WILTSHIRE Wildlife Trust is one of 36 organisations benefiting from grants worth £6.75 million over three years.
The money from the Department For Environment Food And Rural Affairs' environmental action fund will help support the projects, deliver sustainable consumption and production to a range of communities.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will receive £90,000, spread over three years to deliver its project, which will support 12 communities in Wiltshire to take action on climate change with the aim of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent in each community.
Jane Laurie, the head of sustainable communities at the trust, said: "Until now, our work has focussed on simple actions that people can take in their own homes, such as using low energy light bulbs and putting in loft insulation.
"But none of these are visible. To encourage everybody to make changes to their lifestyles we will use this grant to support communities in setting up high-profile projects that will grab people's attention.
"This will help people realise they are not alone and that there are whole communities behind them working to make things better for the environment."
