I WOULD like to thank Melinda Messenger for talking such sense in the Advertiser when she said mothers should be helped by the government to stay at home to raise their children.
I've always believed children are happier and more secure having a parent at home all day, whether that be the mother or father and it's time the government realised what hard work it is.
Many parents would love to stay at home but have to go out to work to pay the bills. I was very lucky as a child to have my mother at home waiting for my brother and I when we got off the school bus, with tea and cuddles. I feel sorry for the many children who spend half their lives at a childminder's house or nursery instead of their own home.
