WHAT is happening to Swindon council? The present incumbents seem incapable of making a decision so the cabinet members are now to get a mentor.

It means a man with over 30 years as a councillor needs a mentor, how demeaning!

If he needs advice then surely the Chief Executive Officer in the Civic Offices on over £100,000 a year or any of the heads of departments on up to £90,000 a year are available.

Justin Tomlinson must agree, he supports a Tory pledge to cut £4bn from taxes by cutting bureaucracy. Council mentors are only another tier of bureaucracy.

Michael Wills is right when he says Swindon council have done well by this government. 5.6 per cent increase in funding is very generous but it will not stop the cuts, because there are no council elections this year they will cut much more than £10m.

Asset stripping is their new target and as usual the elderly again take the brunt of their actions. What next? The Oasis, Link Centre and Broome Manor Golf Complex are they up for sale?
