The mayor was parked illegally and the car had no flag or markings to indicate that it was an official car.

Indeed he was very lucky not to have been given a ticket.

The incident has nothing whatsoever to do with respect for victims of the holocaust and it is an insult to our parking attendants in Swindon to suggest such a thing. Many of them served in the armed forces or lost family members in the war.

Traffic in our town centre now runs freely because of the hard work put in by our parking attendants.

I believe that they do a brilliant job under very difficult circumstances and are not helped by council officials who believe that the rules do not apply to them.

This just proves the fact that politicians will take any opportunity to grab cheap headlines.
