A traffic warden a person we love to hate. For those of us who have had the misfortune of having an encounter with one, it has, as often as not, resulted in us shelling out some cash for our sins. Ouch!
The lesson learned was not to fall foul of them again.
Which brings me to the reason for this letter.
The accusations made about the gentleman who almost ticketed the mayor's car were not consistent with the facts:
a) The car had no flag on it to indicate it was the mayor's.
b) He would not have been aware what function the mayor was attending.
c) The mayor was asked (politely it is assumed) to move the car as it was parked for some time and causing an obstruction.
d) No ticket was issued (surprise!).
In view of the foregoing I think the criticisms levelled against the warden were disproportionate in the circumstances.
I wonder whether they were made prior to the facts being gathered and therefore uttered in the heat of the moment?
