A CYCLE path has been given a make-over by hardworking volunteers during a workday organised by the environmental charity Sustrans.
The Chiseldon to Marlborough cycle path now has 110 new trees and hawthorn bushes, thanks to the 20 volunteers who took part in the event on Saturday.
Chris Penny, who is the liaison ranger who organised the day, said: "The path is an old railway track that was part of the Marlborough to Chiseldon line.
"The aim of Sustrans is to get more people off the roads and into a traffic-free environment like this instead.
"The part of the path we worked on is very open but we wanted to plant some trees and hawthorn bushes there to create an area for wildlife.
"We also put in some fruit trees pear, apple and cherry trees so that people can pick some fruit during their walks.
"The volunteers were so efficient and we are grateful to them for all the help that they gave."
