WOOTTON Bassett went down 14-0 to Salisbury in Sunday's rousing Wiltshire Under 15 Cup Final at Stoneover Lane.
From the first whistle, the match was fiercely contested as each team tried to exert an advantage over the other.
Continued pressure from the Salisbury forwards in the first quarter saw them break the deadlock through a 'pick and drive' try in the 15th minute.
The try was converted and the visitors carried their 7-0 lead into the break.
Bassett found it difficult to gain a foothold in the game as Salisbury made a strong start to the second half.
The South Wiltshire outfit grabbed their second touchdown, once again converted, within five minutes and in the worsening conditions, there was no way back for Bassett against their bigger opponents.
