SWINDON'S beekeepers are looking for interesting bee stories to start an archive.

The beekeepers have been publishing a quarterly magazine, Honey Bee Times, since the 1939-45 war and now want to establish an archive of material relating to beekeeping in the local area.

Joy Simpson, a member of the Swindon and District Beekeepers' Association, said: "We want to find photographs or records of events, or even a story about somebody's grandfather keeping bees.

"We hope to build up an archive of anecdotes."

The association meets monthly at the Haydon Wick leisure centre.

Mrs Simpson said: "Anybody who is starting to keep bees is welcome to our meetings.

"We can help to get them started."

The next meeting will be held on February 24 at 7.30pm.
