SWINDON'S Unison representative will join union leaders from across the south west to discuss local government strike action.
Unison's members working for councils across the country will be balloted on industrial action over pensions by the end of the month.
And tomorrow more than 100 Unison representatives from the region, where the union has 60,000 members in local councils, will meet in Taunton to discuss the action.
Bob Cretchley, Unison representative at Swindon Council, will be attending the meeting. He has said Swindon workers are very unhappy about planned changes to their pension schemes.
The proposals include an increase to the retirement age and a move to a basic pay scheme which would result in a smaller pension.
Ian Ducat, Unison regional secretary, said: "I've got no doubt whatsoever that our members will vote for action."
