75978-43SINGLE people are invited to go shopping for that perfect special someone in a busy Swindon supermarket.
Asda in West Swindon is to open its doors to Cupid on tomorrow.
Customers will be offered different coloured ribbons to attach to their shopping basket or trolley to indicate whether they are looking for love or are already paired up.
A red ribbon will denote someone who is definitely on the prowl while a white ribbon will indicate that the shopper has already found true love.
And for those not quite sure, there's a purple ribbon.
Jan Kilby, the store's events organiser, says supermarkets are the ideal place to find a partner.
"You can tell a lot about someone's lifestyle from their shopping basket," she said.
"Our staff can usually guess if someone has a partner and family.
"Customers who buy ready meals and small cartons of milk are usually single while those with large bags of potatoes in their trolleys normally have families."
The event is planned before Monday to give potential partners the chance to get to know other.
Jan said: "It would be great if their first proper date could be on Valentine's Day.
"This is the first time we have done anything like this, but last year a woman proposed to her partner in the store. They're now planning to move to Cyprus."
