WHEN MY mum died of cancer, we had the benefit of a Marie Curie Nurse for three evenings, which was invaluable to her and to us, the family.
Spending nine-hour shifts looking after someone at the end of their life is such an honourable thing to do. I wanted to get involved there and then. Every year since, I volunteer for the Great Daffodil Appeal by giving just two hours of my time at one of the collections on high streets or at supermarkets in the area.
Just two hours of your time could fund up to one whole night's nursing for a terminally ill patient.
Marie Curie Cancer Care helps people have the choice to stay at home with their friends and family for their last few days or weeks. It was where my mum wanted to be.
We have lovely, dedicated nurses in Swindon and I would be very grateful if you would volunteer to help them continue the wonderful work they do. Like me, make two hours of your time count this March. Please call Sophie, at Marie Curie Cancer Care on 0117 924 7275 email sophie.kinsman@mariecurie.org.uk.
