CHIPPENHAM travel to the depths of Lincolnshire to tackle a side scrapping for their Southern League Premier Division survival on Saturday.

Stamford might be third from bottom on 26 points but the south midlands outfit are more than capable of producing a result against the better sides in the division.

The Daniels have lost four games out of the last nine, picking up just one win against mid-table drifters Rugby.

But they did manage four draws with two respectable 1-1 stalemates with title contenders Merthyr Tydfil and Halesowen.

The results are even more impressive when you consider that Stamford were away on both occasions and they almost won the game against the Welsh outfit after giving away the lead.

Manager Billy Jeffries has been plagued with injuries all season but on Saturday will have a full squad of players available to him for the first time this season.

He said: "Chippenham are a strong side and when we last played them I said they would be near the top at the end of the season.

"Fingers crossed, I should have everyone fit and we will be looking for a result against them."

Jeffries has lost of his two star strikers to bitter rivals Grantham this season as Stamford have a tight wage bill, .

Top scorer Jason Turner and fellow striker James Rowe both doubled their wages when they left The Daniels.

"Grantham offered them a lot more money than we could. It is difficult to replace them but you just have to move on," said Jeffries.

Stamford will be hoping loyal midfielder Danny Steadman can conjure some magic in the centre of the park against the Bluebirds.

He has been ever present for The Daniels this season, and the manager feels he has been irreplaceable, and scored the winner in their vital bottom of the table clash against Dunstable at the start of the campaign.
