GAZETTE & HERALD: RESIDENTS are worried someone could get injured due to a rat run down North Street and Lickhill Road through to the Beversbrook bypass.
The rat run has been exacerbated by the road works in Curzon Street as part of the town council's traffic calming scheme, which will make the town centre more pedestrian friendly.
Resident Margaret Britten, from Lickhill Road, said she hopes people would not continue to use their road when the road works are complete.
"The concern is when the town centre road is narrowed they will go out here to miss the traffic."
Jillian Bavin, from Curzon Park, who was walking her child to school, said the traffic problem was not just confined to this rat run.
"We live down on the A4 where there's no crossing and that has become worse with more traffic. It's exceptionally bad at the moment."
Coun John Ireland, who is against the road works in Curzon Street, said: "Somebody is going to get seriously hurt around there."
