DEVIZES MP Michael Ancram has called for a public inquiry into the burning of hazardous waste at the Lafarge cement works at Westbury.
Together with Westbury MP Dr Andrew Murrison, Mr Ancram believes the Government should hold a public inquiry following an admission by Lafarge that 'rogue employees' falsified the content of its cement.
The two MPs have written to Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett.
They say that they consider the failure of Lafarge to provide a full account of the episode casts doubt on its trustworthiness and suitability for conducting trials into the burning of waste in its cement kilns.
Lafarge admitted staff misreported the contents of Portland cement between September 2002 and December 2004 and staff involved were sacked.
