POLICE say a young boy was involved in a series of distraction offences in the Upavon area on Saturday.
The boy was with a woman who called at six houses in Watson Close around 5.30pm as it was getting dark.
At each house the same ruse was used, claiming the boy was doing a school project and wanted to speak to the householder about wild flowers or local wildlife.
Most householders refused them admission but they were able to talk their way into two houses and steal cash at one.
An elderly woman allowed the pair into her home.
They then asked if they could have a glass of water and a biscuit.
While the occupant was out of the room they stole £200 from her handbag.
PC Gary Sears of Pewsey police, who is investigating the incident, has appealed for information on the woman and boy.
He would particularly like anyone who saw them getting into a vehicle to contact him on (01672) 562222.
