A SCHEME to make developers consider the environment has won a regional award. A team of planners from Wiltshire County Council came up with the idea of planning guidance for every new development over ten homes.
Now the guidance has won a commendation for the team from the Royal Town Planning Institute South West regional planning awards.
Andy Conn, team leader, said: "Developers will have to carry out a waste audit and consider recycling as part of their planning applications.
"The way we deal with our waste is high on everyone's agenda and this new guidance underlines that commitment."
Senior planning assistant Gareth Bennett, who wrote the guidance, said it was particularly well received at the many public meetings.
