THE bells of St Bartholomew's And All Saints' Church, in Wootton Bassett, will ring for three hours on Saturday as a tribute to a former vicar.
The peal attempt, a tribute to Father Bernard Garrett, who retired at the end of January, will involve the continuous ringing of the eight bells.
The pattern of ringing is known as Superlative Surprise Major.
The ringers include David Hacker, the president of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild Of Ringers.
David Whipp, the tower captain at St Bartholomew's, said: "We are delighted about the peal attempt. Father Bernard was always very supportive of guild activities and this will act as a fitting tribute to his retirement."
The St Bartholomew's ringers are pleased to welcome people interested in learning the skill.
They practice on Mondays between 7.30pm and 9pm and David Whipp can be contacted on 01793 731016.
