WITH regard to Mr Breakspear's letter (February 3) about commodes, I totally agree with him. My father died almost a year ago and he often said he was left on a commode at night and nobody answered the buzzer.
He was often neglected and even when a complaint was made nothing was done.
Staff should treat patients the same way they would treat a member of their own family. We are still angry and saddened to this day. We will never forgive the ward which treated him.
Dad was an exceptionally nice man who suffered so much, but had a smile for everyone.
Staff should be trained to treat elderly sick people with dignity respect and compassion.
