BEWARE people of Swindon. This brand new hospital of ours, as all of us know in Swindon, is not big enough.
My father was admitted by ambulance on January 26. After being assessed he was admitted to Jupiter Ward to what they call a trolley space. I must point out that at no time was he on a trolley, but a trolley space is a bed placed in between four beds in a side ward.
This bed has no television or radio facilities like the other beds. My father had no way of contacting a nurse in the middle of the night. So when I pointed this out to the nurses they found a hand bell.
May I point out that my father is still in this trolley space ten days later. People have come and gone in the four beds around him. He still has no TV or radio and only a hand bell to contact the nurse.
This is the 21 century and a so called showcase hospital.
Can someone please explain how this hospital is going to cope when all the new houses that are being built are finished and the population of Swindon increases.
