Mr Morris of High Lawn is one of my constituents, to whom I would be pleased to send my CV. Indeed, some of my background appears on my web-site at www.councillor.info/ncarter and it includes the management of an oil trading and supply desk turning over £15 million per year.
My diary for the last two weeks shows two days in the office attending to council and commercial paperwork, a day's travelling to Sombor in Serbia, two days' commercial work and a day returning home. I attended to council correspondence on Monday afternoon, before attending for a day and half the Planning Inspector's hearing on the appeal in regard to the development of the Kverneland site. Following a school governor's meeting on Wednesday afternoon, I returned to spend the evening at the town hall supporting a meeting of Kennet Passengers. I spent a further hour on Thursday preparing correspondence and the afternoon preparing papers for one of the community area planning partnership groups. My week will finish on Friday with a meeting of Devizes Guardians.
So what does Mr Morris get from me as one of his ward councillors? He gets 40 years of successful, wide-ranging national and international experience of commercial and military service with the disciplines that you hope would reflect a successful and happy career. I hope that I bring these to bear in the committed and enthusiastic pursuit of a better-informed community in Devizes and of an improved environment in which to live. If I can get better, please tell me how? Meanwhile, my rise in April goes to the museum.
