Playing in near perfect conditions, Chippenham got into their stride from the first whistle against a strong Taunton side and within the first five minutes, they posted their first score and points of the day.
Chippenham's Cameron Brown went over the try line following a flowing move from the halfway line.
Taunton responded immediately with some strong forward play and following an infringement against Chippenham, they narrowed the gap.
Chippenham then went further ahead later in the first half when Tom Boreham picked up a loose ball on the halfway line, again following some excellent defensive work in the centre, and ran in under the posts. Boreham then converted his own try.
Again Taunton came back and put pressure on Chippenham in their own territory, but more great defensive work by the visitors saw Callum Fannin intercept a wayward pass on his own 22 and outpace the Taunton defence the full 80- yards to the posts.
This gave Chippenham a 3-17 lead going into the half-time break and, despite making a number of changes, they still managed to maintain the good work in applying the pressure on the Taunton defence.
After a sustained attack, Chippenham's Sam Emery, who was playing on the flank for the first time, drove over from five metres out.
As the game drew to a close, Taunton rallied and following good work from both their backs and forwards, managed a score under the posts which was duly converted.

Chippenham played host to Bristol at Allington Field on Sunday and, in wet conditions, it was the visitors who started the game the better.
The Chippenham side looked rusty and struggled to match the Bristol desire to win the ball. Following a few infringements, Bristol gained a penalty which they converted to give them an early lead.
From the restart, the Chippenham forwards started to compete for the ball which enabled them to release the backs for the first time.
Following several phases, Chippenham's Luke Flower managed to work the ball out to Ollie Harris who out-paced the defence and went over in the corner. The conversion was added by Tom Davies.
From this restart, Liam Baker began making some strong runs at the Bristol fly-half and continued pressure allowed Chippenham scrum-half William Richards the chance to feed good service to the backs. Despite the pressure, the score remained 7-3 to Chippenham going into the half-time break.
After the break, it was the turn of Chippenham to show some real aggression and quick ruck ball allowed Baker to attack on the blindside and go over to establish a 12 - 3 lead.
The game looked over for the home side but in the dying minutes, Bristol headed for the Chippenham line and scored a converted try to snatch victory from the hosts.
Coach Kevin Ingram said his side would ideallt like to have tough opposition like Bristol every week.
