LADIES' football in west Wiltshire has taken another step forward with Bradford Town securing the Trowbridge Road ground for home fixtures.
The ladies' senior side recruits players from girls' teams across the district and have effectively become a west Wiltshire club. Their first home game at Trowbridge Road ended in a 1-1 draw with Wootton Bassett.
Bradford took the lead early on when Becky George finished after Cassie Powell's incisive run. But they were made to pay for other missed chances when Emma Williams equalised.
Bradford Town men's manager Mark Hodkinson said the club welcomed their association with Bradford Ladies.
He said: "We are committed to helping the growth of girls' and ladies' football in the county and look forward to the Ladies playing their home games at Trowbridge Road this season.
"It was great to see such a big turn out in support of our local side."
Bradford drew 3-3 away at Swindon Spitfires on Saturday and face Devizes in their next home game tomorrow.
Three Bradford girls helped the county beat Bristol Rovers Girls on January 29. Wiltshire under 12s beat Bristol Rovers 3-2, with the under 14 squad winning by the same margin.
Wiltshire under 16s also gained a draw as the two "centres of excellence" battled it out at Norton Hill School in Radstock.
Martin Sandford, of Bradford Town's girls' and ladies' section, said: "Bradford players Katie Sandford (under 14), Billie Taylor and Sophie Dobson (under 16) contributed to the pleasing results against this top club side, showing how far the centre has come in the last two years."
The Wiltshire county girls' squads train every Monday at Devizes School.
