STRONG showings from several fringe players have given Calne Town boss Kelvin Highmore some tough selection posers ahead of his side's next two fixtures.

Calne travel to Salisbury side Bemerton Heath Harlequins for tomorrow's Wiltshire Senior Cup quarter-final clash before facing Shepton Mallet on Tuesday night.

Saturday's 3-0 win at Ilfracombe came without six first team regulars and Highmore must now decide if and when to reintroduce his big guns.

He said: "I picked the team on Saturday and they played out of their skins so I've got a lot of thinking to do.

"I may rest a few players at Bemerton because we've got an important game at Shepton Mallet on Tuesday night. We know nothing about Bemerton. All we know is that they have got a good set up with a nice pitch and try to play football."

Bemerton lie 18th in Wessex League Division One, having lost 17 of their 28 games so far. On paper they should not prove too much of a test for Calne, but Highmore will have at least one eye on Tuesday.

He said: "I want to win the game, but it's not a priority. Not that I'm being dismissive of them.

"Our main aim is promotion. We've got games in hand, but we've got to win them."

Highmore is still searching for a left sided defender, but admits the strength in depth shown by his squad at Ilfracombe means new blood is not vital.
