STEVE Bryant spared Trowbridge's blushes on Saturday when his powerful header completed a second half comeback.
The defender netted only his second goal for the club as they turned round a 2-0 deficit to take the points.
A Dave Mitchell brace restored parity midway through the second period and Bryant's winner left Trowbridge manager Neil Kirkpatrick a relieved man.
He said: "We got out of jail really I suppose. But all they had was two set pieces in the first half, we had all the play.
"We questioned their desire and commitment at half time and they came out and responded afterwards. We just felt keep it going and if we can get a goal we'll be alright."
Adderbury took the lead after just three minutes when Dean Barker headed home from a corner. Trowbridge struggled to find their feet, but still had a Luke Smith shot cleared off the line on 20 minutes.
Barker doubled the visitors' advantage on the half hour, pouncing on a rebound off the crossbar.
Trowbridge needed a quick response after the break and Mitchell obliged by heading home Dave Percival's right wing cross. They almost drew level when Adderbury's keeper completely missed a back pass on 55 minutes, but the ball rolled out for a corner.
Mitchell's second came with another header, this time from an Adam Nunn free kick on 69 minutes. Bryant netted Trowbridge's third header from a corner three minutes later to keep them in the title hunt.
