CIVIC pride is set to sweep through Warminster as the town's historic buildings are to be commemorated.
The joint venture between Warminster Civic Trust and the town council will honour historical buildings around the town with a blue plaque stating a brief history, pictured right.
The buildings honoured include The Maltings, Dewey House and the Literary Institute.
The Athenaeum, Warminster School and the Chapel of St Lawrence will also be awarded plaques.
Elisabeth Collyns, from the civic trust, said she hoped the scheme would install some pride in Warminster.
"Hopefully it will make people more interested in these buildings when they walk past them," she said.
"All the buildings are listed and the plaques should be put up in a couple of months.
"We are trying to make the town a place of interest.
"Hopefully the locals will feel a sense of pride in their town."
The plaques are made of milled stainless steel and will sit discreetly on buildings, which are considered historically significant.
Warminster mayor Martin Baker said: "I think it's a wonderful idea. Warminster is a town of tremendous historical significance and I'm very glad this is being recognised. We don't know the exact date but I think they will start going up around March."
Planning applications to mount the plaques on all six buildings have been submitted to West Wiltshire District Council.
