SUPERMARINE boss Mark Collier was hoping to include striker Martin Paul in his line-up tomorrow.

Instead it looks like the striker will be turning out for the opposition.

Collier tried to recruit Paul (pictured) on loan from Chippenham, but Southern League rivals Paulton appear to have won the race to acquire the 30-year-old's services on a temporary basis.

"It looks as though Martin Paul has decided to go to Paulton," said Collier. "To go out there and get someone of his quality shows their spending power in comparison to ours because he's on big money.

"That's what we're up against."

But Marine are capable of overcoming the gulf in financial clout, as they proved in the reverse Division One West fixture at Hunts Copse a fortnight ago when Roger Emms scored the only goal of the game.

Emms returns to the side following his recent head injury and the equally influential Steve Davies is also back from suspension, while Tony Joyce is available again too.

JP Mills is suspended though, and Dave Hunt, Dave Gee and Sam Collier are still sidelined through injury.

Paul's impending departure should give Premier Division leaders Chippenham the extra funds to secure a permanent deal for Dave Gilroy.

The hitman has been on loan from Weston for three months, scoring 10 goals in 12 games for the Bluebirds.

Manager Steve White is in the process of thrashing out a deal to take Gilroy to Hardenhuish with a possible four-figure transfer fee involved.

White's in-form side travel to Stamford tomorrow.

Their hosts dwell in the relegation zone but have actually conceded fewer goals this term than the table toppers 35 compared to 36 and have only lost two games more.

But a plethora of draws have left the Daniels fighting against the drop. Midfield man Gary Horgan is Chippenham's main injury worry, having picked up a hamstring injury in the midweek cup win over Tiverton.

Tivvy are the visitors to Cirencester this weekend and the Centurions' squad is nearing full-strength again. Neil Arndale, Darren Robison, Adam Mayo and Mark Richards came through a practice game against RAF Innsworth unscathed on Tuesday.

Scott Griffin is still struggling with his back problem and with Phil Corcoran switching to Highworth manager Brian Hughes is short of cover up front.

Nick Stanley will act as back-up for the time being but Hughes is looking to draft in another forward.
