I CANNOT believe I have just read in the Advertiser that Swindon Council intends to raise the cost of day care charges to £26 a day.
My mother in is a residential home in Swindon and has made friends with several people who attend the day care facilities at the home she is in.
The day care people have tea and biscuits in the morning and a meal at lunch time then tea and biscuits in the afternoon.
In between they have a game of bingo, which they pay for, or maybe a quiz and of course a nice chat!
Where on earth does the amount of £26 come from? I am appalled by this and I know that it will put an end to many pensioners' day out, a lot of whom would not get out otherwise.
I hope Swindon Council will think again about this charge and remind themselves that one day they, too, will be old and maybe alone!
